About Decred
Decred (DCR) was launched in 2016 by the bitcoin developers behind btcsuite. The goal of Decred is to provide a full bitcoin implementation written in an alternative programming language called Go.
Using Go gives Decred exciting new features, such as a hybridized Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain consensus protocol. Interestingly, Decred became the first cryptocurrency to make a change based on an on-chain vote by the community in June 2017.
