Launched in 2016, RChain (RHOC) aims to solve the pertinent scaling and cost issues associated with most blockchains today. Rchain hopes to achieve this by following a branch of mathematics known as mobile process calculi. Unusually for a cryptocurrency, RChain is controlled by an organization called the RChain Cooperative, which is based in Seattle.
The aim of this Cooperative is to provide a formally organized community which abides by predefined rules in order to create a strong ecosystem around RChain. In reality, this means that every Cooperative member receives one vote regardless of how many tokens they own.
